<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">In the <a href="http://mashutkalu.blogspot.com/2017/09/how-to-attach-tassels-tutorial-toys.html" target="_blank">previous post</a> I Have showed how to attach tassels.</span><span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">But what are tassels for in amigurumi crocheting apart from the well known hair making? If you are a clothes crocheter you usually use tassels to make different sorts of fringe decoration. But with crocheted toys, tassels can be almost anything!</span><span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b>1. Hair.</b> Of course, you can just attach pieces of yarn to the head and the hair is made. But if you want the hair to be thick and nice you should either attach really lots of tassels or:</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px; text-align: left;">

<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul style="text-align: left;">
<li><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">Attach a few strands of thin yarn at one go (more hair less work)</span></li>
<li><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">Attach thick yarn tassels but then separate each piece to strands (youāll get thick, beautiful curly hair)</span></li>
<li><span style="-webkit-text-stroke-width: initial;">Comb the tassels till they are evenly fluffy (my favorite dollsā hair! looks like wool for felting)</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<br />
<div style="-webkit-text-stroke-color: rgb(0, 0, 0); -webkit-text-stroke-width: initial; font-family: "Helvetica Neue"; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 12px;">

<span style="font-kerning: none;"><b>2. Clothes.</b></span><br />
<span style="font-kerning: none;"> Fringes on your amigurumisā scarves look just as good as on your own :) But what is really cool with crocheted toys, is the fact that fringe can not only be a decoration but the clothes itself! 1 round done with single crochets and tassels around - and you have a grass Hawaii skirt! a simple crocheted bra and tassels attached underneath and combed - and you have a nice and thin dress!</span></div>

<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;"><b>3. Feathers, tails, ears, fire. </b></span><br />
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none;">These are the ideas I have already applied when designing my toys. After you have combed the tassels to make them completely fluffy they become really easy to shape. You can wet your hair or use hair spray to fixate the shape even better. I have colored the tips of the feathers and sprayed them for the American Indian Penguin. And the fire holds its shape without anything</span></div>

One of the most common ways to make hair to your crocheted doll is to attach separate pieces of yarn as tassels. Here I'll show you how to attach tassels to a crocheted detail and in a next post I'll demonstrate how I use them in quite a creative way š You can also download this tutorial as one jpg file.<br />
<br />

</div>
<a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: left;">
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li>Cut your yarn into pieces 2 required lengths + 1 or 2 centimeters. For example, if you want the hair to be about 10 cm long, cut the yarn into 22 cm pieces. Fold a piece pf yarn in half to form a loop.</li>
<li>With a hook draw the loop through the stitch you are attaching the tassel to.</li>
<li>Draw both loose ends through this stitch. Pull until both ends are completely out.</li>
<li>Pull both ends to tighten the knot. You can trim the ends do the are even.</li>
<li>You can leave the tassels as the are now. Or you can separate each piece of yarn to strands to make them curly. Or toss each yarn piece with a thick comb to make them fluffy (I'll show how cool it looks in the next post!)</li>

I'm happy to introduce you my new penguins patterns. Now they are the American Indian Penguin and Leprechaun Penguin. You can find these patterns in my <a href="http://mashutkalu.com/en/shop" target="_blank">Patterns section</a>. And here I want to tell you how they where created.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4aJYrNe6bMgWwibZQHqwDA38Mc1_QAp_IRgYh75WSIA8OjfAjrDuFfi-B4iHmMtiT0v7p_e6PmE5XfC3Dmx11RCH688LqgRd3PONW3o7fzRM6Yuo3NDZ4_4FZQs_VA8hPQDmgvKKbFv4/s1600/IMG_8073.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="246" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4aJYrNe6bMgWwibZQHqwDA38Mc1_QAp_IRgYh75WSIA8OjfAjrDuFfi-B4iHmMtiT0v7p_e6PmE5XfC3Dmx11RCH688LqgRd3PONW3o7fzRM6Yuo3NDZ4_4FZQs_VA8hPQDmgvKKbFv4/s320/IMG_8073.jpg" width="320" /></a>I had wanted to make a Leprechaun Penguin for a long time. Since I saw how cute he looked in the violet Halloween Hat I had been thinking how to design the one in green. But couldn't figure out what else to add into the pattern.<br />
<br />
And then suddenly I bump into some photos from old crocheting magazines with free form patterns. And they include this rounded shape suggested to be a firm button. Perfect for golden coins! And as it is the middle of February all social medias are full with hearts (oh! they remind me of a lucky clover!). And in just a few days I have this cute green guy! :) (and a bunch of thrown away green hats, and a lot of different 'tries' for clover, and some cool ideas what else I could do with this amazing coin shape)<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfd8AnuPb6ykUxN_4tvqPCPo9UIifcm90fdC12zD0RgrE82MK1BN9qoseQz-XgXDUH3Iw_jELxbL-qcqRWc9D-TUIMqEbCeHTBuKtfTQ9K8zfhj2f_-hFchxobqCkxw-f_DiMX-loXncU/s1600/IMG_8773.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfd8AnuPb6ykUxN_4tvqPCPo9UIifcm90fdC12zD0RgrE82MK1BN9qoseQz-XgXDUH3Iw_jELxbL-qcqRWc9D-TUIMqEbCeHTBuKtfTQ9K8zfhj2f_-hFchxobqCkxw-f_DiMX-loXncU/s400/IMG_8773.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The story of the American Indian creation is much simpler :)<br />
<br />
I just wanted to try out how I could possibly use post double crochets in an amigurumi pattern.<br />
<br />
I didn't manage to push post dcs into any pumpkin patterns :) as I initially was trying to. SO... the only other thing that came to my mind was Wigwam.<br />
<br />
The wigwam required someone to live in it and the American Indian was born. But the photos looked quite boring and "demanded" something bright... So I added bright fire :)<br />
____________________________<br />
<br />
Actually I'm often asked where I get my ideas. The story is quite different every time :) Sometimes I bump into a picture that catches my mind. Sometimes, I just need to check some pattern or a part and don't want to just crochet the exactly same design twice. Some toys were designed as a specific order or gift. But my favorites are usually born when I'm trying to avoid doing something that I must be doing at that time :) . Then I design my best toys, clean my apartment, reorganize yarn books or crochet multicolored snails (don't know why as I forget to put them for sale or even take photos most of the time...)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="text-align: left;">When you are crocheting an amigurumi toy you almost always need to attach a decorative or strong thread to embroider some face features, tighten fingers or a mouth and so on. Many patterns instruct, "attach thread to the middle of the face and backstitch the mouth", or something like that. But it is not always obvious what "attach" means and how you are supposed to do in neatly. </span></div>
<br />
Download the photo tutorial for 3 simple ways to attach thread to a crocheted piece. Use and share.<br />

Panda driving amigurumi pattern<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3PZP3-HNVlL3rmkiJZU5AgdCo_uvi_lAtgwdlj81OuxsD22b9zoSJpsLGMMkrBV3HQHvCED39H8O9tVpPTJ5rFElgLJh29_7kHXdqFMEJZ9_WXbjMSHZ3qXvDdLpNNEtABEFKEDzVHr0/s1600/IMG_0188.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img alt="panda pattern amigurumi" border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3PZP3-HNVlL3rmkiJZU5AgdCo_uvi_lAtgwdlj81OuxsD22b9zoSJpsLGMMkrBV3HQHvCED39H8O9tVpPTJ5rFElgLJh29_7kHXdqFMEJZ9_WXbjMSHZ3qXvDdLpNNEtABEFKEDzVHr0/s1600/IMG_0188.jpg" height="266" title="" width="400" /></a></div>
It's fun how designing of quite a simple toy can sometimes require crocheting so many details!<br />
<br />
I had lots of difficult crocheted toys that I did from the first time or just with a few changes.<br />
<br />
But this amigurumi Panda made me do 7 upper paws! 2 heads, 2 bodies, 5 ears, 5 legs. And I haven't even counted the number of different black spots for eyes that I tried to choose the best size and shape.<br />
<br />
But now my little Panda driver is finished! And even the draft of the pattern! Masha is happy ))<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
My Panda should be driving. As it is a present for my driving instructor.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbsVlSQEgmWK6RLqdw3uTOYdIHRSG0ntX8mGaE2XHnb5Vi2b_eEZkFYpLDfkHr-p4zKm06qExPA9ge9q22MY8xAoW1hTI_shV5b9il-RH9CGbaKwnk6oyOMRXEBikarrHClct81CqFTZE/s1600/%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%B0_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbsVlSQEgmWK6RLqdw3uTOYdIHRSG0ntX8mGaE2XHnb5Vi2b_eEZkFYpLDfkHr-p4zKm06qExPA9ge9q22MY8xAoW1hTI_shV5b9il-RH9CGbaKwnk6oyOMRXEBikarrHClct81CqFTZE/s1600/%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%B0_2.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
But I thought that pandas are not always driving (...sometimes they eat...). So I added a bamboo twig to my pattern as well.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy4FOKv-qYbrSwYC0SdBaOmmH8l3fJlF9YOXiiwUJikuqkq9ks7t0cXFampZP_SuUx0Xuy6GzwzK2zGFiLPRNvWSu78zYbya11KXj3kKaIdUC-ZKtviWP0aUr3kThbhz4eJdafWkYc4dU/s1600/%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%B0_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy4FOKv-qYbrSwYC0SdBaOmmH8l3fJlF9YOXiiwUJikuqkq9ks7t0cXFampZP_SuUx0Xuy6GzwzK2zGFiLPRNvWSu78zYbya11KXj3kKaIdUC-ZKtviWP0aUr3kThbhz4eJdafWkYc4dU/s1600/%D0%BF%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%B4%D0%B0_1.jpg" height="300" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The pattern is already written and filled with pictures. A few girls are trying it out and checking. Then I'll be translating it into English. Now it looks like this</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9TFFjzIDk6lzk1Cpsq75VmMQCrwiTX7d-pOJD9GGMRuoLOCjVPQAzl49xtoJciBmYLn7PRpLHMdqq1C8wHioLZKEOWqs2bqrhJautOye3kybm1Y8uQ1dduSjWri5PpbnSqlmcxaMOZ7Q/s1600/%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%BF%D0%B8%D1%8F+PandaRus_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9TFFjzIDk6lzk1Cpsq75VmMQCrwiTX7d-pOJD9GGMRuoLOCjVPQAzl49xtoJciBmYLn7PRpLHMdqq1C8wHioLZKEOWqs2bqrhJautOye3kybm1Y8uQ1dduSjWri5PpbnSqlmcxaMOZ7Q/s1600/%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%BF%D0%B8%D1%8F+PandaRus_1.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Quick and easy to crochet! I hope you will like my Panda Driver (or bamboo eater? :) )</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I plan to add it to my etsy shop in a week or so</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

I have just finished crocheting 20 fluffy sheep in headphones. I love to work with big orders. It is possible to crochet a lot of bodies, then heads... and last night... last sewings... and at once 20 different creatures are looking at you from the desk! :)<br />
